Fitting Process
Custom Clubs Built For Just For You
At Austad’s, we want your custom club fitting session to be fun, relaxed and engaging. Our custom fitting centers are equipped with the technology and equipment to find you the perfect clubs for your game. Here you'll find an overview of our award-winning process along with some of the most commonly-asked questions about the custom fitting process.1. Schedule Your Fitting
We offer a variety of fitting options to suit your needs. If you're just in the market for a single club type like a driver or an iron set, you can book an individual fitting for what suits you best. We also offer full bag fittings where you can get fit for every club type.
Simply choose the fitting type, location and time that works for you and we'll have everything ready when you arrive.
2. Prepare For Your Fitting
It's helpful if you can bring the golf clubs you’d like to work on along with your shoes and glove. Wear comfortable clothing that you can move in and if possible try to arrive 10 minutes before your fitting so you have enough time to stretch and warm up.
3. Meet Your Fitter
We'll have a Master Club Fitter ready to go at the time of your fitting. After introductions, your fitter will ask a handful of questions to make sure we can give you the best experience possible. Some examples are: Tell me about your game? What is your most common miss? Do you have a handicap? What are your goals? Do you have brand preference? and other questions that might be helpful
4. Take Static Measurements
Before you start swinging clubs, we’ll take a few measurements to ensure we get you swinging clubs that are built for your unique size. Just as Shaq wouldn’t play basketball in size 6 shoes, you shouldn’t swing clubs not designed specifically for you! We’ll look at things like a wrist-to-floor measurement to determine proper club length and a hand size to find the right grip. Once complete, we’ll get demo clubs put together for you to swing!
5. Dynamic Club Fitting
This is where the fun really begins. First you will hit some balls to loosen up. Once loose, your fitter will place impact tape on the various clubs you are testing to determine where on the face you are hitting the ball and if we need to adjust the lie angle of the club. This critical step will allow you to hit more consistent shots by dialing in the perfect specifications for your dynamic swing.
You and your fitter will also look at a plethora of data including launch angle, ball spin rate, shot dispersion, distance, attack angle and more.
During the process you'll be able to see how changing club models, shafts, weighting and more can impact your results.
6. Club Recommendations & Selection
At Austad’s Golf, we really like to let the data speak for itself. You should be able to see from the Dynamic Swing Test and Ball Flight Analysis which club(s) and which specs work best for your swing. Your Custom Club Fitter will walk you through all the data and will provide you with all of the information from your fitting session. After that, the decision is up to you. Our #1 goal is ALWAYS to help you play better and of course have more FUN!
7. Order & Custom Build
Once you and your fitter decide on the optimal clubs for your game, we'll order clubs directly from the manufacturer.
